In this activity, you will use some of the FCPS databases or online news agencies to find an interesting nonfiction article. Your teacher may also assign an article for you to use.

As you read, fill out the following graphic organizer to help you better understand the text.

Step 1: Your first goal is to find an article in an online database on a topic that is interesting to you.

To do this, first go to the following link to find a database: http://www.fcps.edu/is/libraryservices/onlinedatabases.shtml
Browse through the subjects to find a topic you’re interested in, or click on one on the right.  The username for databases is fairfax, and the password is fairfax.
