Turtle shook her head. 'Bean Trees,' she said...Some of the wisteria flowers had gone to seed, and all those wonderful long green pods hung down from the branches (Kingsolver 151).

Title/Theme: The "Bean Trees" are actually wisteria vines, growing out of the barren soil in Dog Doo Park. How does the novel continually move beyond outward appearances and find meaning, significance, beyond what initially meets the eye?
